Health Sciences vocational training

There is scope to create lot of jobs with government initiatives in medical, dental, nursing, engineering, administrative and management.

No doubt, every department has its importance but the most important is the health. Mainly, there three parts of this. Health sciences, health engineering & technology and health administration and management. For each of these, educated and trained resources are needed. There are many sub-categories with respect to education, human resources and work. Medical and dental, para-medical and para-dental, nursing, engineering and administrative management etc. There are lots of jobs available in this field because of this diversity within it.

Health technical and vocational education means the technical education in department of health, which has been ignored here in Pakistan so far. Unfortunately the number of institutions for medical and dental health are not sufficient as compared to our population, whereas the training institutes for health engineering (which deals with the machinery related to health department) and health admin management are almost none. Same is the case for different type of courses, degrees, diplomas and certificates for instance are not sufficient, whereas the engineering and admin management courses are almost none. Government should take initiatives to have to the institutions to offer the basic training and short courses. This will help in reducing the un-employment. Lets look at some examples.

1. We have medical stores throughout the country, some of these operate 24/7, twenty four hours and seven days a week. So lot jobs could be created by providing the pharmacy education.

2. We have hospitals and clinics. Jobs could be offered after training our youth through receptionists short duration courses.

3. Human resources, engineers, technicians are needed for the sales and services of health machinery. So jobs could be created by offering short training courses in health engineering.

There are lots of advantages of the technical vocational basic training. Creating job opportunities for under-graduate youth, guiding students who want to make their career in health department, utilizing free time for examples in the exam and vacations breaks, part time job for meet the educational expenses, trained resource pool creation to deal with the accidents and natural disasters.

Some of the key departments of health technical and vocational education are Laboratory, blood bank, ultra-sound, x-ray, ECH, NMI, EEG, MRI, CT Scn, endo-scopy, angeography, flippotomy dialasis, anesthesia, operation theatre, ophthalmology, pediatrics, ER, neuro-physiology, cardiovascular medicine, ICU, NICU, NCU, CCU, nursing, dispenser, pharmacy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, audiology. Dental: Surgery,  hygiene, nutrition, engineering, accounting, report writing, typing, transcription, store, library, ethics, receptionist.

Hence to establish the training health technical and vocational training institutes, board, faculty and counsels for para-medical and para-dental is an important need of the time.
